HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN HOMEPAGE
Create your homepage and your graphic files using your favorite editors. For creating html files you can use Netscape Composer, Microsoft Frontpage or just a plain Text-editor. Use a Graphic Program like Paint Shop to make your graphics and save them preferably in ".GIF" format.
After you have completed your page, you can test them by using your Internet Browser (i.e., Netscape, Microsoft Internet Explorer, etc.), the next step is to upload your files to our server.
TIP: Choose index.html as the filename of your personal start page.
Upload your file to CATSI Internet
To do this you will need a FTP-client program, if you do not have one yet, please look at our FTP server, you will find a simple FTP-client there. After you have installed your FTP-client, please dialup to Catsi and start the FTP-client after the connection is established, connecting to ftp://calapan.catsi.net.ph. To be able to upload your files, you have to login by using your User-ID and password.
After you have established the FTP connection, you can now see your home-directory. Within your home-directory, you will find a subdirectory homepage. Upload your files into this homepage subdirectory. After that, you can close the FTP connection and make the final test.
Test your homepage
Use your internet browser and connect to http://www.catsi.net.ph/~[YOUR USER-ID]. If you can see now your homepage, CONGATULATIONS! If not, check for the following common problems:
You did not create an automatic start page named index.html. In this case you can only access your homepage via http://www.catsi.net.ph/~[YOUR USER-ID]/[YOUR FILENAME].
If the links within your homepages dont work, or you dont see the graphics but everything works fine on your computer, it is most likely, that you have put either hard links into your homepage, like c:\docs\homepage\picture.gif or c:\docs\homepage\mypage.html, or that your links contain blanks or spaces like c:\My Documents\my first homepage.html. This will work at your computer, but not on the Webserver. Change your links to picture.gif, mypage.html or myfirsthomepage.html and try it again.
Also, dont forget that ABC.gif and abc.gif are the same on your Windows computer but they are two different files for the Webserver.
